Workbook is the 1989 debut solo album by American guitarist and singer Bob Mould, following the breakup of the influential rock band Hüsker Dü. The album has a strong folk influence and lighter overall sound than he had been known for, although heavy guitar features occasionally. Drummer Anton Fier and bassist Tony Maimone, both of Pere Ubu fame, served as Mould's rhythm section on the album and on the subsequent live shows. The single See a Little Light was a hit on the US Modern Rock chart. Listen to Workbook 25 by Bob Mould - a new album release date: February 25, 2014 New Releases Now. Hüsker Dü called it a day on January 28, 1988, but the band's Bob Mould would reappear on May 2, 1989 with his first solo album - the incredibly impassioned and personal Workbook. In addition to the original album's 11 tracks, the first disc of this 2-CD collection adds 'All Those People Know,' originally issued as the B-side of the single 'See A Little Light. The second disc is Bob's complete 1989 performance at Chicago's Cabaret Metro. Bob Mould was an angry young man in Hüsker Dü, and anger abounds on the empty spaces and meandering melodies of his 1989 solo LP Workbook. This expanded reissue includes a live set recorded in Chicago in 1989. Sunspots -the gentle, two-minute instrumental that opens Bob Moulds 1989 solo debut Workbook-may be the softest, saddest fuck you in recorded history. This 25th-anniversary reissue features an accelerated and raging '89 live rendering of the album that adds a few Hüsker classics acoustic and disarmingly tender. Popular on Rolling Stone. It remains a singular example of the category, and the remastering treatment along with bonus disc of live material is phenomenal. The album found Mr. Mould softening his message, writing love songs in fact, and inviting some topnotch session musicians along for the journey Anton Fier, Jane Scarpantoni. He has since returned to his more angry, more urgent delivery with his equally excellent recent solo work Silver Age and just-released Beauty & Ruin, wh. Can someone please post the deadwax information on this release?
Not sure what they are either, but Demon usually uses GZ vinyl to press albums.
Anyone know if this was pressed from the same Kevin Gray lacquers as the Omnivore release?
